Living at Thornhill House

Accommodation
Inside a resident's roomEach bedroom is single and ensuite.  We are purpose built and all on one level.  We are furnished and decorated to a very high standard and each room is made as homely as possible.  We encourage residents to make their room as personal as they like by bringing familiar and much loved items from home with them. The sitting room and conservatory are light, homely and practical areas for relaxing or taking part in some of our many social activities.  We have two dining areas, though a resident may eat in their own room if they prefer.

Activities

Coffee morning at Thornhill HouseWe are lucky enough to have our own Activities Organiser 5 afternoons a week.  She organises a variety of activities from trips to local places of interest to music and plays here at Thornhill House and crafts, exercises and social events to name but a few.

Equipment
We are well equipped with all the latest in moving and handling aids. There are two large bathrooms with special baths and hoists to help some less agile residents to enjoy a bath.

Services
Our hairdresser visits weekly.   The chiropodist visits once every 10 weeks.  The local library comes with books every four weeks.  Residents are welcome to invite their own practitioners to visit them here, such as manicurists and aromatherapists.

Food
Serving up lunchAll the food is home-made, sourced as locally as possible and special diets are catered for. There is an extensive and healthy menu with a large variety of food on offer with some flexibility of meal times. There is great attention given to producing enjoyable tasty food that all our residents appreciate.

Visiting
Every day is visiting day at Thornhill House and we have no restrictions on how long or how often you would like to visit your relatives or friends – with their permission of course!

GP Services
Here at Thornhill House we are registered with both Baslow and Bakewell surgeries and have an excellent working relationship with both.  New residents not already under one of these practices will need to register on arrival.
