History

Front door of Thornhill HouseThornhill House was built in 1994. The John Thornhill Memorial Trust (which runs Thornhill House) was set up in memory of Molly Thornhill's late husband, who had lived and worked all his life in the village.

Molly had been deeply saddened by the death of her friend’s mother, Marjorie Birch who was unable to spend her last days close to her family and friends.  It was at this point that Molly saw the need for a Home in the village that could provide both residential and nursing care especially for the local people, so that they could remain within their community.

Many thanks are due to the many people who worked tirelessly to help to raise the money to build the home.

The John Thornhill Memorial Trust is a charitable trust and Thornhill House is a 'not for profit' organisation.
