Great Longstone Chase

This is a 4.8 mile course that climbs a total of 950 feet onto Longstone Edge that takes place annually on the 1st Friday of September. The runs starts from the recreation ground in the middle of the village. The start point and parking are well signposted on the day.

The main event starts at 6.45pm, registration opens at 5.30pm on the day of the race.

Report on the 7th September 2007 Great Longstone Chase

The race had a turnout of 122 runners; the chase was underway under the starting gun of Lord Roy Hattersley. The weather was a perfect blue sky over Derbyshire. The winner of the men’s race was Lloyd Taggart with a time just outside the course record. Mary Wilkinson won the ladies race in 6th position in the over race. Edale Mountain Rescue Team were in attendance. Lord Hattersley presented the trophies to the winners.

The success of the Longstone Chase is dependent upon volunteers from the village. This year’s event raised £250 for Edale Mountain Rescue Team.

The 2008 Great Longstone Chase will start at 6.45pm on Friday 5th September. Registration from 5.45pm onwards.
