From Wardlow to Malawi
I am 18 years old and have just completed my A-levels at Lady Manners School.
I am planning to go to university to study geography, although before this I have
decided to take a gap year. During the next year I am going to be working at a
PGL centre in Lincoln for 3 months, and then I have been offered the opportunity
to spend 8 months volunteering for Gap Activity Projects teaching in an under
resourced school in Malawi, Africa.
Malawi is a small southern African country often described as "the warm heart
of Africa". To fund my trip to Malawi I have so far used my savings to pay the
fees to Gap Activity Projects Ltd so that I could be accepted for the placement.
I am now contacting local businesses to see if anyone would be interested in
sponsoring me. This money would be used to cover the cost of my flights to
Malawi.
During my time in Malawi I am planning to make a scrapbook of my trip, and
would be happy to show this to any sponsors or anyone who is interested in
what I am doing, or you can keep in touch via email: Angel2k8859@aol.com

GAP
GAP was founded in 1972 by a
teacher who recognised that
students, wishing to take time out
between school and university, were
having difficulty finding placements
overseas that would satisfy their
desire for adventure whilst doing
worthwhile volunteer work in a safe
environment. GAP is the largest
`year-out' organisation specialising
in 17 to 19 year olds. In 2003 GAP
sent over 1,200 volunteers to 33
different countries.

Classic car collection
Did anyone see one of these beautiful
cars when six of them lined Main
Street, Wardlow, during well dressing
week in September?
What a sight to be seen. They were in
excellent condition and obviously very
well cared for. The owners stood proud
letting passers-by take numerous
photos and admire the fabulous fleet.
Does anybody know what year these
cars are from? I believe the one
photographed is an MG.
What a way to enjoy our beautiful
countryside.
