Police Alert
Overnight on 11/12th July, jewellery
and cash were stolen from a property
at Dagnall Gardens, Bakewell. The
offender gained entry via the patio
doors.
Also, at 2300hrs on 11th July, an
offender was disturbed when trying to
open the upstairs window of a public
house on Castle Street.
Derbyshire Police would like to
make you aware of a male who is
wanted.
His latest offence in Derbyshire was
on the 4th July.
He has been known to approach
females, often in car parks when they
are loading shopping into their vehicle.
He states that he is a fireman or
even a paramedic. He says that he
has been locked out of his vehicle and
that he needs to borrow money to
get back to his station in another part
of the country.
On a number of occasions, he has
booked into hotels or bed and
breakfasts and left without paying.
He is a known gambler and uses
local bookies wherever he turns up.
Description: white male, 5'10" tall,
medium build, with short fair hair,
blue eyes, northern accent, casual
clothing. He apparently comes across
as being a bit of a charmer!
Over the last two days, two males
aged in their late teens have been seen
acting suspiciously in a `G'
registered dark blue Ford Escort motor
vehicle at the Golf Club car park on
Station Road, Bakewell. They
appeared to be eyeing up cars in the
car park before driving off. Any
sightings of this vehicle, please
contact the Police.
For advice regarding security, please

Buxton, on 01298 762064.
Institutes autumn council meeting in
October. We have orders for 2007 W.I.
calendars and diaries-how time flies
and we have not had all our holidays
yet! There is no meeting in August but
we hope to have a mystery tour to
shorten the gap to the September
meeting.
Our guest speaker Ruta Popika
introduced us to the delights of making
bread flowers. Her colourful and
delicate flowers were beautifully crafted
and a delight to see. Ruta gave us the
recipe for preparing the dough which
needs appropriate colouring adding
and then it was our turn. We were each
given a polythene bag containing two
prepared dough lumps, one pink and
one green. Ruta then gave us guidance
on how to start each stage. Keeping
a watching eye on each table our
guest managed to coax quite
creditable roses from everyone, even
if some of us seemed to be all
thumbs. It was a revelation on what
can be achieved with white bread
without crusts, PVA glue and colouring
but not food colouring. Many thanks
to Kath Dance for her account of the
National Federation of Women's
Institutes A.G.M. in Cardiff and to Ruta
for her hands-on demonstration. We
ended the evening with refreshments
provided by Mrs. Fletcher and Mrs.
Cumming supplied our mystery parcel.
As we have no meeting in August we
look forward to welcoming Mr. John
Hall who will be talking to us about
rescue dogs and the mystery of
magnets. We also have a competition
to find the most appealing animal
ornament!
The next meeting is 6
th
September
at 7.30pm in the village hall.
