Talks on Islam
There will be two talks on the subject
of Islam by Professor Edward Hulmes
at Longstone Institute on Thursday
January 18th and Thursday February
1st at 7.45pm. Prof. Hulmes is a
leading authority on Islam in this
country, and as well as having an
encyclopaedic knowledge of the
subject, he will be able to answer the
kinds of questions that many of us want
to ask, e.g.What does "Jihad" mean
to modern Muslims? What is the
significance of the veil to Muslim
women? What is the difference
between Sunnis and Shias?
Everybody is welcome. Tea, coffee
and biscuits will be served for a small
charge.
