Keep Fit for Adults

This was orignally part of the County's Adult Education Programme but is now run as a 'self managing community group'.

We meet in the Sports Hall at Lady Manners School between 8.15 and 9.30 every Tuesday evening (Autumn & Spring Terms and Summer Term until early May). It was changed from Wednesdays in September 2005.

After some gentle warm-up exercises we usually start with a half-hour game of a cross between basketball & netball (designed like this to make it easier to play with mixed groups). After a short break we spend the rest of the time playing either unihoc (indoor hockey with plastic sticks and a puck) or, occasionally, badminton.

During the summer months the sports hall is used for examinations so we usually set up a programme of evening walks.

The group is open to anyone in the area who is 18 or older (we've no upper limit). You do not need any previous experience of any of these activities and there are no tests or competitions; each person just does as much or as little as they want or are able.
