St Giles Parish Church, Great Longstone.

Sunday services are:

  • 8am on 1st & 3rd Sundays in the month - Holy Communion
  • 11.15am on the 1st Sunday - All Age Worship
  • 11.15am on 2nd, 4th & 5th Sundays - Sung Eucharist
  • 11.15am on 3rd Sunday - Sung Family Eucharist
  • 6.30pm every Sunday - Evensong (BCP)
Sung Eucharists are Common Worship - Order One in modern language. Holy Communions are Book of Common Prayer.

Midweek services are:

  • 11.30am on 1st Wednesday - School Assembly
  • 10am on 1st Wednesday - Holy Communion (CW)
  • 11am on 3rd Wednesday - Holy Communion at Thornhill House
  • 10am every Tuesday - Tinies pray & Praise in the Village Hall

Parish Records

These are now kept at the Derbyshire County Council Records Office in Matlock. Their records state the following about St Giles:

GREAT LONGSTONE, St Giles (D2373) lncludes townships of Little Longstone, part of Wardlow, Rowland (from mid 19th century) and Hassop (from c1910).
Originally parochial chapelry in parish of Bakewell.
Became separate parish 1852. No entries for baptisms, burials 1743-1764, marriages 1740-1754
